Maria Antony is from Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu and is currently a Nature Educator at ATREE’s Agasthyamalai Community Conservation Centre (ACCC) in Manimutharu, Tamil Nadu. He draws on his skills in digital illustration, painting, caricature, storytelling, nature photography and his background in wildlife biology to design innovative conservation education programmes.
Early Bird held a bird rhyme contest to celebrate bird migration, featuring four migratory species – Barn Swallow, Bar-headed Geese, Rosy Starling and Indian Pitta. Here are the results and winners!
Chanchal Singha Roy is a self-motivated teacher at the Government Senior Secondary School in Kadamtala, Middle Andaman. He works with the students to raise awareness of the islands’ unique ecosystems by using locally available resources so that they are kept as a part of their way of life in the long run.
Shraddha Rangnekar is a nature educator from Goa and is a Partner with Mrugaya Xpeditions. She organises experiential learning programs for school and college students as well as the public at large. She is also the Founder Member of the Foundation for Environment Research and Conservation (FERC).
Early Bird is delighted to partner with the Indian Music Experience Museum in Bangalore for an exhibit called Birdsong. This is an exhibition curated by the museum that spotlights the contribution of birds to our ecological and cultural wealth. It opens on 1 Apr 2022 and will run until the end of July.
Surendhar Boobalan is a school teacher and a birder from Puducherry. He popularises bird watching among students and the public by organising bird walks and talks. He is a part of the Tamil Birders Network and organises the Pongal Bird Count and co-ordinates Campus Bird Counts in Puducherry every year.
Harshada Gauns is a trained zoologist with seven years of experience in conducting and implementing biodiversity-based research and three years working closely with communities in Goa. She has engaged with students from more than 60 schools across Goa, taking the message of nature, environment, conservation, and sustainable living to them.
Raja Bandi is a nature educator from Andhra Pradesh who currently works as Citizen Science Coordinator at IISER Tirupati. His includes taking nature to citizens of Andhra Pradesh, mainly children and youth. He conducts regular nature walks and bird walks and support local institutions in forming nature and bird watching clubs.
