Connecting children to birds
Anand has been a Wildlife Biologist and Nature Educator for three decades. He founded SPROUTS, focusing on conservation through ecological research, advocacy, and outreach. He aims to imbue principles of conservation, sustainability, and climate action among diverse audiences via experiential learning.
Chahat Yadav is a nature educator based in Mumbai, whose work focuses on the city’s fascinating intertidal and wetland ecosystems. Over five years, she has blended fieldwork and education, leading nature trails and sharing the hidden wonders of marine life.
Misha Bansal is a nature educator and Sustainability and Nature Education Specialist. She works to infuse nature into the school curriculum and sustainable practices into school systems. Her journey began with studying science, which led to her documenting birds to support forest protection efforts.
Over the last three months, Early Bird interns, Snehith and Bindu BS, have visited the Gram Panchayat libraries of Bengaluru Rural and Urban districts, meeting passionate librarians and witnessing children discover the joy of nature.
Aditi Rao, a nature educator from the rainforests of the Western Ghats, manages education, outreach, and communications for Nature Classrooms. Her work involves connecting teachers and students to the natural world by developing locally relevant resources and workshops, particularly in Kannada.

Anurag Karekar is a monsoon-migrating naturalist who works as an Ecotourism Curator at The Habitat Institute in the Andaman Islands for eight months of the year, and returns to Mumbai during the monsoon to run nature education and ecotourism programs through his company, Naturalist Explorers.
Libraries in Karnataka are now evolving into vibrant spaces where children can explore, learn, and nurture their connection with the natural world. Children’s enthusiasm for birds continues to grow, with many eager to learn more and take part in additional bird-related programs.
The Young Birders’ Workshop 2025 brought together curious children from across India, each adding their own spark to our shared learning. From naming invented birds to observing real ones, their enthusiasm, questions, and deepening connection with nature reminded us why bird education matters. What a delightful journey it’s been!
ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಯಮಯವಾದ ಆವಾಸಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ರಾಜ್ಯವು, ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದಂತಹ ಹಕ್ಕಿ ಪ್ರಭೇದಗಳ ನೆಲೆಬೀಡಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲು ಕಂಡುಬರುವ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವುದರ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ‘ಕುತೂಹಲಿ’ ಎಂಬ ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ‘ಹಕ್ಕಿಯ ಗೂಡು’ ಎಂಬ ಅಂಕಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳ ಕುರಿತಾದ ಲೇಖನಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಲಿ ಬರ್ಡ್ ತಂಡವು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುವ ಹಕ್ಕಿ ಪ್ರಭೇದಗಳು, ಅವುಗಳ ನಡವಳಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳ ಬಗೆಗಿನ ಮೋಜಿನ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬಯಸುವ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಇದು ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
